¡Ay, Dios Mío! I’ve just come back from ¡D'Madinah Residence: El paraíso indonesio que te dejará sin aliento! and I'm still trying to unscramble my brain. They promised paradise, right? Well, let's just say my brain's a little scrambled egg right now, but in a good way… mostly. Let's dive in, shall we? Because, seriously, this place has a lot to unpack. And I mean a lot.
Accessibility… ¡Uf! Okay, first things first. They say Facilities for disabled guests and Elevator, which is a HUGE plus. I didn't specifically test all that, but the presence of those things is a win in my book. But remember: always confirm details directly with the hotel if accessibility is a deal-breaker. I've learned the hard way!
La Conexión Digital: Wi-Fi & Internet (¡Con sus Altibajos!)
- ¡Wi-Fi Free en Todas las Habitaciones!: Yes! A glorious, free Wi-Fi signal. But… sometimes it was a little like trying to catch a particularly slippery fish. It cut out a few times, but hey, it's free, and most of the time it worked. If you need a rock-solid connection, consider the Internet [LAN] option.
- Wi-Fi in Public Areas: Yup, it's there. Same rules apply. Sometimes it sizzles, sometimes it fizzles.
Limpieza y Seguridad: ¿Demasiado o Suficiente?
This is where things got really interesting. Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Rooms sanitized between stays, Staff trained in safety protocol, hygiene certification, Hand sanitizer… they're going all-in. And I loved that. I felt so safe – it’s a HUGE thing nowadays, right? They seem to be taking it seriously. I mean, seeing the staff scrub down the elevator buttons after every use? That's commitment!
- Room sanitization opt-out available: A small price to pay for peace of mind.
Comida y Bebida: ¡Un Festín o un Desastre! (Depende del Día y del Humor…)
Okay, this is where things get a little… complicated. Restaurants, Bar, Coffee Shop… all promising delights.
Breakfast [Buffet]: The buffet was… good. Okay, it wasn’t amazing, but it was a solid start to the day. The buffet in restaurant set-up was nice and well-managed. The coffee was… serviceable. I’m a coffee snob, so I probably didn’t give it a fair shake.
Asian breakfast. Honestly the Asian breakfast was a delightful journey! The variety was wonderful and the flavours authentic.
Room Service [24-hour]: YES! A lifesaver after a long day of exploring. Important Note: The menu isn't exactly Michelin-star level, but availability at 3 AM? Priceless.
Snack bar. Always a good option when in a hurry
Vegetarian restaurant: Good too!
Alternative meal arrangement: This can be helpful in case of allergies.
Cosas que Hacer y Relajarse… ¡Ah, la Gloria! (This is where things get a little bit blurry… in a good way!)
- Swimming Pool: This is where I lost myself (and most of my inhibitions). The Swimming pool [outdoor] is gorgeous, with a stunning Pool with view. The design is incredible. I spent hours just floating, staring at the sky, and pretending I was a mermaid. Bliss.
- Spa/sauna: I got a massage – a deep tissue one, because I needed it. The therapist was amazing, and I practically melted into the massage table. They had a steamroom, and a Sauna as well, which I didn't use. Body scrub and Body wrap is available as well.
- Fitness center/ Gym/fitness: Yes, they have it. I didn’t use it. Let's just say I was more interested in the pool with a view.
Para los Niños: ¿Un Paraíso Infantil?
- Family/child friendly. The hotel seems like a great place for kids, with a Babysitting service. There are Kids facilities and they even have Kids meal. So, yes, it's a family friendly place.
Servicios y Comodidades: ¡Mucho, Mucho, Mucho!
- The list is insane. Concierge, Daily housekeeping, Laundry service, Ironing service, Dry cleaning, Luggage storage. The hotel is seriously decked out with practically any service you can think of. It feels as though they try to make you feel comfortable.
- Air conditioning in public area and in all rooms: Essential in Indonesia.
- Car park [free of charge] & Car park [on-site]: Big plus. Parking is a pain in some cities.
- Airport transfer & Taxi service: Super convenient.
- Cash withdrawal: Great for those exploring outside the hotel.
- Doorman: Because why not feel fancy?
- Elevator. Essential if you have luggage.
- Safety deposit boxes: Always a good idea to store valuables.
- Facilities for disabled guests: Again, a BIG win!
- Gift/souvenir shop: Handy for last-minute presents.
- Ironing facilities: Because crumpled clothes are the worst.
- Smoking area: If you smoke. I don't, but I'm glad it's there for those who do.
- Terrace: For chilling.
- Front desk [24-hour]: Somebody's always there to help.
- Air conditioning. Essential.

- Meeting/banquet facilities.
- CCTV in common areas.
- Check-in/out [express]. Save time!

- Okay, the rooms are good. Really good. Comfortable bed, a desk, satellite/cable channels on the telly, air conditioning, a mini bar. Everything you need.
- Free bottled water: Always a bonus!
- The Bathrobes and slippers were a nice touch.
- Bathtub and a separate shower/bathtub.
- They have stuff that I haven't even mentioned yet, like alarm clock, closet, complimentary tea, etc.
Getting Around: ¿Fácil o Complicado?
- Car park [free of charge]. Easy peasy.
- Airport transfer – a lifesaver!
- Taxi service. Always available.

¡Ay, Dios mío! ¿En serio? ¿Madinah Residence en Gentan, Indonesia? ¡Vale, allá vamos! Prepara la maleta, porque esto va a ser… interesante. Y sí, voy a ser honesta. Muy honesta.
Itinerario (más o menos) de la Locura en Madinah Residence & Alrededores:
Día 1: Llegada, ¡Y Dios Nos Pille Confesados!
- (Mañana): ¡Despegue! Vuelo largo, con escalos, aeropuertos caoticos. Me da miedo volar. Siempre. Rezo por no estar sentada al lado de un tipo que ronca como un tractor. ¡Cruzo los dedos!
- (Tarde): Aterrizaje en Yogyakarta International Airport (JOG). "¡Hola, ¡Indonesia!" El calor te golpea como una bofetada. Me sale una gota de sudor en la frente al instante… ¡Y eso que estoy en el aeropuerto! Buscando el transporte al Madinah Residence. Espero que el conductor sepa dónde está. Google Maps… ¡por favor, no me falles!
- (Tarde-Noche): ¡Madinah Residence! Uf, la primera impresión… no sé. Es curioso. ¡Es más acogedor de lo que esperaba! El olor a especias… ¡maravilloso! Me dan una bebida de bienvenida. ¿Qué lleva? ¡Ni idea! Pero está deliciosa. Me instalo en la habitación. ¿El baño? Limpio, ¡gracias al cielo! Pero el agua caliente… ¡Ay, la eterna lucha! Creo que me daré una ducha fría. ¡A la aventura!
- (Después de la ducha, ya siendo noche): Exploración del recinto. ¡La piscina! ¡Tiene buena pinta! Pero… ¿y si hay bichos? Aaaaagh… ¡Soy una cobarde! Decido darme un paseo por los alrededores. Me pierdo. Literalmente. Pregunto a un señor simpático que me sonríe con todos los dientes. Me indica el camino. ¡Menos mal! ¡Cena! Comida local. ¡Picante! ¡Pero buenísimo! Me como todo. ¡Y pido más! (Quizás me excedí… pero, ¡qué se le va a hacer!) Me acuesto. Muerta de cansancio. La cama… ¡Es blanda! ¡Perfecta!
Día 2: Borobudur, el Buda y mi Ego.
- (Mañana - muy temprano): ¡A madrugar! ¡Borobudur! ¡El templo budista! Me levanto a las 4 de la mañana. ¿Por qué? Para ver el amanecer. ¡Dicen que es mágico! El coche… el camino… la niebla… Empiezo a dudar de mis decisiones. ¿Es necesario esto?
- (Amanecer en Borobudur): ¡MADRE MÍA! Vale, valió la pena. ¡Espectacular! El sol sale entre las estupas. ¡Una maravilla! Me quedo sin palabras. (Casi). Intento hacer fotos. Me doy cuenta de que soy horrible con la cámara. (Pero bueno, ¡la experiencia!) Subo a la cima del templo. ¡La energía es increíble! Meditación… intento… me distraigo con un grupo de turistas ruidosos. No hay problema, sigo intentándolo.
- (Mediodía): Regreso al Madinah Residence. ¡Necesito café urgentemente! El desayuno… ¡rico! Me encuentro con una pareja de alemanes. Hablamos un poco. Intentamos comunicarnos. Nos reímos. (¡La barrera del idioma es divertida!).
- (Tarde): ¡A explorar Gentan! El mercado local. ¡Un caos! Olores, colores, gente… ¡Impresionante! Compro cosas que no necesito, pero que me parecen geniales. Me regatean. ¡Me lo paso bien! Me compro un sombrero. Con flores. (¿Por qué no?). Me siento como una idiota. Pero me da igual. ¡Vacaciones!
- (Noche): Cena en un warung (puesto de comida callejero). ¡¡¡Nasi Goreng!!! ¡El mejor que he comido en mi vida! (Hasta hace poco). Sigo comiendo picante. Me da una crisis de risa. Vuelvo al Madinah Residence. Me tumbo en la cama. A meditar… de nuevo. (Me duermo).
Día 3: Dejando Gentan, Buscando la Paz Interior (otra vez).
- (Mañana): Un poco más de relajación en la piscina. ¡La cobardía se va! ¡Me meto! ¡El agua está tibia! Me cruzo con un grupo de niños. ¡Me invitan a jugar! (¡No entiendo nada de lo que dicen, pero me da igual!). Sonríen. Me río. ¡La vida es simple!
- (Tarde): Preparo la maleta. ¡Odio hacer la maleta! Me despido del Madinah Residence. Un poco triste. Me ha gustado. Es diferente. Auténtico. Me siento… relajada. (¿En serio?).
- (Noche): A ver, el viaje sigue. Toma un vuelo. ¡Otro adiós a Gentan! ¡Dios nos pille preparados para la siguiente aventura!
Consideraciones (y frustraciones):
- El idioma: ¡Oh, el idioma!… Voy a aprender algunas frases en indonesio. Prometo. (Pero no prometo usarlas correctamente).
- El wifi: A veces funciona, a veces no. Acepto la desconexión. (Bueno, casi).
- La comida: ¡Picante! ¡Deliciosa! (Y, quizás, a veces, demasiado picante…)
- La gente: ¡Increíblemente amable! Siempre sonriendo. Me dan envidia. (Eso es una buena cosa).
En resumen…
¡Esto no es un viaje perfecto! Habrá imprevistos, errores, momentos de pánico y de felicidad absoluta. Pero eso es lo que lo hace auténtico. ¡Y eso es lo que importa! ¡A vivir la aventura! Y, ya que estamos, a rezar para que el próximo vuelo no me toque al lado del señor que ronca. ¡Amén!
